Dr. McDougall brings almost 30 years of experience to painPRO. He has practiced in San Francisco, Florence, and now Vancouver, with extensive post-graduate training in Active Release Techniques (ART), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), Functional Movement Systems (FMS/SFMA), OTZ Frozen Shoulder Technique, Kinesio Taping, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also holds an International Chiropractic Sports Sciences Diploma (ICSSD).

He has treated elite athletes and dancers, including competitors from the 2000 and 2012 Olympic Games, the Italian National Rowing Team, Ballet BC, and Arts Umbrella dancers. Alongside painPRO Physiotherapist Chris Tierney, they are the only RSQ1 providers in Western Canada.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. McDougall has a strong passion for the arts. He has served on the board of directors of the Eastside Arts Society and the Contemporary Art Gallery, in Vancouver. Shireen is a 2010 graduate of UBC’s Human Kinetics program with extensive experience in physical rehabilitation, specializing in neurological disorders, concussions, orthopaedic injuries, and motor vehicle accident recovery. Passionate about giving back to her profession, she mentors UBC Kinesiology students and new graduates from all disciplines with the goal of inspiring the next generation of movement specialists.

Known for her upbeat personality and her talent for inspiring, motivating, and challenging her patients, Shireen creates innovative, customized functional fitness programs tailored to each individual’s goals. She believes exercise should be effective, enjoyable, and often accompanied by a smile.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Shireen making the most of Beautiful British Columbia - running, hiking, camping, and adventuring with her family. Always chasing new challenges, she has completed an ultra-marathon and claimed first place in her age category at the Vancouver Triathlon in a Sprint distance and completed her first half-Ironman. Chris offers a warm and collaborative approach to physiotherapy. Chris holds a Doctorate of Physiotherapy from the University of Melbourne in Australia and a Bachelor of Kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise science from UBC.

He has additional training in: - Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)/ Dry needling - Shockwave Therapy - RSQ1 [https://www.rsq1.nl/what-is-rsq1/] - Clinical Pilates - Concussion Management (Concussion Rehab Works Level 1 and 2)

Chris enjoys all aspects of Physiotherapy but has a particular interest in clinical Pilates, sports injuries and recovery following motor vehicle accident. He and his colleague Dr. McDougall are the sole providers of RSQ1 in Western Canada and both find it to be a very effective treatment for many conditions.

Outside the clinic Chris can be found surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, playing basketball, or running through the beautiful parks near the city.
