Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Queensland. He has experience working in the hospital setting as well as different physiotherapy clinics.
Chris grew up quite active and did sport throughout his life, especially track and field. He discovered his passion for rehabilitation and physiotherapy after a sports injury tearing his hamstring on the track. After months of excellent physiotherapy guided rehab, he was back running and able to compete as a member of UBC’s Varsity track team. Chris wanted to combine his passion for human movement and helping people to get back to doing the things they love.
He enjoys equally working with an athlete wanting to get back to their sport or with a grandfather wanting to play with his grandkids. He has volunteered as a weight training coach for Special Olympics Vancouver and has worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.
Chris’ treatment philosophy is to be a guide similar to a GPS that helps them navigate the steps it takes to reach their goals/destination. His approach involves creating strong relationships with his clients, listening to their concerns, and creating a goal-oriented, individualized treatment plan. Chris employs different modalities to achieve these goals such as IMS-dry needling, manual therapy, shockwave therapy, education and exercise.
In his spare time, Chris likes to run, play volleyball, go to the gym and achieve his own fitness goals, while spending downtime with his loved ones.

Bodhi, an RMT at painPRO’s Surrey Memorial and North Surrey Location –
With my extensive experience, I comfortable and adept at working with clients’ pain and injuries that stem from sports, work, persistent pain, and complex medical issues. I have completed extensive post-graduate education and am proficient and comfortable with all types of massage and manual techniques.
For over 32 years, I have dedicated my life to helping others recover as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). My work has always been about more than just treating pain—it’s about empowering people to move freely, recover fully, and live without physical limitations. Whether working hands-on with patients, teaching future therapists, or contributing to research that shapes the profession, I have always believed in the power of evidence-based care, integrity, and compassion.
My journey in healthcare has been diverse. From working in rehabilitation clinics to leading education initiatives and conducting research on massage therapy’s role in pain management, I have sought to elevate the profession and provide the best possible care. Over the years, I’ve taught, mentored, and collaborated with practitioners across the world, always striving to bridge the gap between science and hands-on healing.
Then, life threw me an unimaginable challenge—a false accusation of sexual assault. After a long and painful legal battle, I was fully exonerated, with the court delivering a not-guilty verdict at the request of the prosecution. The experience tested me in ways I never expected. It was isolating, deeply traumatic, and shook the very foundation of my life’s work. But through it all, I held onto my truth, my integrity, and the unwavering support of those who truly knew me.
Healing from this has been its own journey—one that has strengthened my resilience and deepened my understanding of trauma, justice, and the human capacity to rebuild. It has given me new insight into what it means to truly recover, not just physically but emotionally and mentally.
I continue to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards, ensuring that every patient I treat feels safe, respected, and cared for. I remain committed to education, research, and advocacy, using my experiences to help shape a profession built on trust, knowledge, and genuine healing.
This is more than a career to me—it’s my calling.

James Li chose to start studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) when his father became ill with lung cancer and passed away in 2017. He was hoping to find a way to relieve pain, and discover the meaning to a better, healthier life.
James studied the acupuncture program at Vancouver Career College from 2019 to 2021, and became a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia in 2022.
James believes that no matter what kind of medicine or modality used, the most important thing is to provide effective treatments and help people live a healthier life.
Over the years, James has learned and practiced a large variety of advanced TCM acupuncture methods. Having
progressed in his practice, he has been gradually shaping his own diagnostic and treatment methodologies.
His diagnosis is mainly based on Chinese Traditional Medicine: tongue, pulse, meridians, navel, and Taiichi Bagua. His treatment methodologies primarily revolve around umbilical acupuncture and fourteen-meridians acupuncture, supplemented by techniques such as acupressure, cupping and ear points, etc.
Notably, his approach has shown remarkable efficacy in pain conditions and has yielded positive results in addressing emotional syndromes and deficiency conditions.
James excels in using acupuncture to treat most pain symptoms quickly, effectively, and safely, including most acute and chronic pains, sports injuries, pain after car accidents and so on.
He also treats emotional disorders such as insomnia, depression and anxiety. And some deficiency syndromes such as fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, flu, fever, cough, asthma, stroke, facial paralysis, tic disorder in children, eye diseases, abdominal weight loss, and some chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes. Practice has proved that his treatment results in the above areas are satisfied.
James takes effort to make his acupuncture safe, effective, as painless as possible, and uses needles as little as possible. He is aware that some people nowadays are still afraid of needles or any pain associated with needling and he has worked hard to find a way so that more patients can accept acupuncture and benefit from it.
James is dedicated to tailoring his approach to each patient’s unique needs. Effective communication with patients is paramount to him; providing them with guidance on pre- and post-treatment care as well as focusing on their long-term well-being. Crafting individualized treatment plans for each patient is a priority.
James Li is an outgoing, hardworking, and energetic person and enjoys communicating with others. Making Traditional Chinese Medicine as his lifelong career, he is hoping he can help more people at painPRO.
